ST Thomas College Thrissur

St. Thomas' College  was founded in 1889 by the first Vicar Apostolic of Trichur, the Rt. Rev. Adolphus Edwin Medlycott, PhD, who was formerly Professor of Rhetoric at the Propaganda College in Rome and was the author of India and the Apostle Thomas (London: David Nutt, 1905) .

The N.C.C. Unit of St. Thomas' College, is the 1st Company under the 23 (K) Battalion of Thrissur. It was started in the year 1958. The total strength of the company is 160 Cadets.  This Unit has secured the Kerala State Education Minister's Award for being the Best College NCC Unit in the Kerala and Lakshadweep Directorate. Many of the N.C.C cadets of this Company have participated in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi and in various National and Regional camps. Some of them have secured the best cadets award.

 Sri C Achutha Menon Government College
Sri C Achutha Menon Government College, Thrissur, is a premier institution of higher education in humanities and business studies in central Kerala. The Thrissur Government College was established in 1972. The college started functioning in the present Government Training College premises on the 14thof August 1972 with 200 students and 9 teachers. The college, affiliated to the Calicut University, was formally inaugurated by the then Chief Minister, the late C Achutha Menon on 28th October, 1972. In recognition of the good performance of the college and its potential for development, it was resolved to shift the college to a 25 acre campus of its own at Kuttanellur. Accordingly, the college was shifted to the new location on April 01, 1991. In 1997 the college was renamed Sri C Achutha Menon Government College, Thrissur, after the late Chief Minister. Now, with more than 800 hundred students and a dedicated team of 44 teaching and 24 non-teaching staff, the campus is beaming with academic, co-curricular and socially relevant extension activities.

                      

  Maharajas Technological Institute
Maharaja’s Technological Institute is the oldest Polytechnic in Kerala  state. Located in the heart of Thrissur, the polytechnic was started as a war technicians training center by the Govt. of India during world war II. In 1946, their training center was named as Maharaja’s Technological Institute and diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering were started in 1947-48.Later on in 1991-92 and 1998-99 Electronics Engineering and Computer Engineering. Were also started. When the directorate of Technical education was formed under Govt. of Kerala, the institution came under the administrative control of the Directorate.
